Entry for the Dark of Night challenge at
Level 2
I have made some changes to the original following helpful and constructive advice in the comments
Nobody knew where they came from, where they went to... even if they went anywhere.
Every day the two elderly men sat on the bench, they never seemed to eat.. no-one saw them arrive each morning and no-one saw them leave each night... but plenty saw them throughout the day.
They were talked about, theories abounded... but no-one seemed to know anything for a fact.
One day they both died sitting on the bench - there was no funeral... no family came forward - so there they stayed.
People stopped passing by that way.
Cats stopped prowling there at night.
Owls kept away.
Eventually all living things dared not go near or by - so now it is the sacred grave of the two elderly gentlemen who seemed to know no-one and who nobody knew.
I made this into a huge challenge for myself as it is all about lighting and shadows... just hope I got it somewhere close to right!
